That's a wrap for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and not surprisingly, James Gunn is feeling very emotional now that the Marvel Cinematic Universe sequel has finished production. The filmmaker shared a heartfelt post celebrating the wrap along with some interesting details on the final shot he filmed for the movie!
James Gunn shared a new photo on his official Twitter account confirming that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has finished production. The Suicide Squad director was feeling rather nostalgic as he revealed it has been almost a decade since he worked on the first film in the MCU trilogy.
"After over 100 days of shooting & over 3000 shots, this is the slate for the final shot of #GotGVol3, presented to me by the camera crew. It was an easy shot of Rocket seated, 1st with @seangunn, & then nothing there, & took everything in me not to break down sobbing on the spot," Gunn wrote.
"The majority of the last ten years of my life have been spent working on & thinking about the Guardians. I still have a long road ahead of me with VFX & editing, but it was still momentous to me," he added before pointing out that work on the film is not yet over but the final shot had him feeling emotional.
"Again, I’ll still be working with them over the next year until release, but shooting that last shot was a reminder of the warm impermanence of life & love, & how that impermanence makes it so precious, so valuable, & is a good reason to be grateful for what I have right now," Gunn wrote.
It's interesting to know that the last shot filmed for Vol. 3 had something to do with Rocket Raccoon. Could this mean something will happen to the character in the film? Hopefully, we'll learn more in the next few weeks.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is scheduled for release on May 5, 2023.
