- Quick Answer: Recent industry rumors claim Jacob Elordi has landed the role of James Bond, but Amazon MGM Studios has not officially confirmed his casting yet.
Amazon MGM Studios has reportedly found its new James Bond in Jacob Elordi, who is heavily rumored to take on the iconic 007 role.
The official casting process for James Bond 26 began in May, with renowned casting director Nina Gold leading the search for Daniel Craig’s successor after the actor stepped down from the iconic spy role. So, will Elordi indeed be the next James Bond?
Is Jacob Elordi the New James Bond?

There’s no denying that Jacob Elordi is one of the frontrunners to play James Bond, alongside Jack Lowden, Callum Turner, and Paul Mescal, among others.
Now, according to scooper Jeff Sneider (via ComicBook), the Australian actor has completed the screen-testing process alongside Jack Lowden, who is also being considered for the role.
However, Elordi is said to have landed the role, with an official announcement expected “very, very soon.”
If the 29-year-old star indeed becomes the new 007, it wouldn’t be surprising. Elordi has become one of the most sought-after young actors today after rising to fame in Netflix’s The Kissing Booth and HBO’s Euphoria.
From there, he went on to land major roles on the big screen in Saltburn, Priscilla, Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein, and Wuthering Heights. And by the looks of it, James Bond could soon be another major franchise on his résumé.
Jacob Elordi Talks About Potential James Bond Casting

In August, Jacob Elordi walked the red carpet in London for the premiere of his latest movie, The Dog Stars, directed by Ridley Scott.
As many James Bond films have been shot in the country, which is also home to MI6 and 007, he was asked whether his visit included any conversations about taking on the lead role in the 26th film.
“I’m here on holiday,” he told Variety.
Back in 2023, Elordi called the rumors about him becoming the next 007 “beautiful,” telling Extra, “I just like that people maybe want to put me in their movies. That makes me really glad.”
However, if the franchise’s longtime casting director Debbie McWilliams had her way, she wouldn’t want Elordi, Callum Turner, or Harris Dickinson to play the iconic role.
“I don’t want to see any of them as James Bond,” she told The Independent.
McWilliams worked on the Bond films from 1981’s For Your Eyes Only to 2021’s No Time to Die. She was responsible for casting Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan, and Daniel Craig in the lead role before retiring ahead of Amazon’s acquisition of the franchise. Nina Gold and director Denis Villeneuve are now overseeing the new casting process.
“It is absolutely essential that [Bond] retains a total enigma,” she explained. “I don’t want to see any of them as Bond because we now know so much about them. We want to know as little about them personally as possible, because that’s what spies are. We don’t need to know where he goes shopping or who his parents are, or where he lives. We never want to see him at home. And a vital element of the whole thing is his job description. He’s licensed to kill, and we have to believe that he can do that. If you don’t, then you’ve lost the audience.”
With casting rumors continuing to swirl and no official announcement yet, fans will have to wait and see whether Elordi ultimately becomes the next actor to play the iconic 007 role.
