Metallic Rouge Is an Original Anime Not Based on Manga

Metallic Rouge is a blend of action, science fiction, and mecha set in a world where humans live alongside androids known as Neans.

The first episode of the anime follows a Nean named Rouge Redstar (also known as Metal Rouge) to Mars to investigate and spy on Sarah Fitzgerald, the diva of Club Canal, whom she thinks to be one of the Immortal Nine.

The Immortal Nine is a group of Neans that rebel against humanity, and Rouge's mission is to track them down and eliminate them.

Rouge is not working by herself at all. Her support system is none other than the investigator, Naomi Orthmann. She gathers intelligence and creates battle strategies for Rouge.

Together, Rouge and Naomi are an unstoppable duo, which the members of the Immortal Nine think are agents of Alethia.

Unfortunately, Metallic Rouge doesn’t have a manga adaptation, at least for now. In other words, Metallic Rouge is an original anime with an original storyline and series composition.

Aside from Toshizo Nemoto (Last Hope, Backflip!!, Inu X Boku SS, Macross Delta), Yutaka Izubuchi (The Skull Man, Star Blazers 2199) also worked behind the series composition of the Metallic Rouge anime.

Meanwhile, the official website of the Metallic Rouge anime has confirmed that a spin-off short story about the series has begun serialization.

Depending on the success of the anime, it’s not impossible for Metallic Rouge to receive a manga adaptation sometime in the future.

It’s not unusual for original anime to get a manga adaptation while or after it airs. Such was the case for A-1 Pictures’ Lycoris Recoil, which aired from July to September 2022.

Shortly after Lycoris Recoil ended, a manga adaptation written by Yasunori Bizen began serializing in Monthly Comic Flapper. In addition, a spin-off light novel has also been released.

With the hype surrounding Metallic Rouge, there’s a huge chance that a manga adaptation is on the horizon.

For now, nothing has been confirmed, and fans will have to settle with the TV anime content.
