KPop Demon Hunters star Rei Ami recently shared an exciting tease on the potential sequel to the hit Netflix movie.
The animated musical film has become the biggest pop culture sensation this year. Not only has it become the most viewed Netflix original movie of all time, but the songs and the soundtrack have topped the music charts and subject of social media trends, especially "Golden" and "Soda Pop."
With the film's massive success, fans have been wondering whether the sequel will finally happen.
Is the Sequel to KPop Demon Hunters Finally Happening? Rei Ami Teases

Speaking recently with E! News at the red carpet for Heidi Klum’s 24th Annual Halloween party, Rei Ami, who did the singing voice for Zoey, was asked whether a sequel to KPop Demon Hunters is already in the works following its massive success.
The singer attended the party as her character in the Netflix hit, inspired by her look in the opening scene where Huntr/x performed "How It's Done."
"I’m waiting for the call, just like you! You’re gonna find out when I do, so we’ll chat then," she said.
Ami also opened up about the film's popularity and the Halloween costumes inspired by the characters.
"Oh my god, it’s everywhere, I can’t get a break from it. And I’m not complaining, please! I want to see more," she said.
"This is a cultural phenomenon. I’m so honored, in awe, and just truly humbled by the power of music and good art and how it can really, truly, it sounds so cliché, change the world. That’s exactly what this film and this soundtrack did, and it brought so much hope and light into such a dim, grim world, and I feel really privileged to be a part of it."
What is Netflix's Franchise Plan for KPop Demon Hunters?
Reports confirmed that Netflix and Sony Pictures Animation are already in talks to develop a sequel for KPop Demon Hunters following its massive success. Per the deal on the first film, the streamer cannot develop a follow-up without Sony's participation.
There are also preliminary talks to bring back directors Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans to work on the sequel. No official deal has been made yet.
A previous report stated that Netflix already has massive franchise plans for KPop Demon Hunters, and it is being compared to how the Frozen franchise is to Disney.
They are eyeing two more sequels for the film (to complete the trilogy), a TV series spinoff, a stage musical, and a potential short film that will bridge the gap between the main films. A live-action remake is also being considered, but Kang has shot down the idea.
