With the reboot of the beloved series Friday Night Lights currently in the works, there have been questions on whether original star Taylor Kitsch will be returning in the new version.

Kitsch made his breakthrough in the hit series when he played Dillon Panthers fullback Tim Riggins in all five seasons. Since then, he has become a major star in both film and TV.

In a recent interview, Kitsch was asked the burning question of whether he will be returning to star in the Friday Night Lights reboot.

He revealed that he had already been approached about the project, but he hadn't shared more details.

"I’ve been asked, and we’ll leave it at that," Kitsch teased.

The actor added that he would only be open to returning for an episode, but he is not open to joining as a series regular.

Kitsch said, "I would come in and do something, maybe for an episode or something. But I don’t want to go and do the whole thing."

He is also open to playing "an opposing team’s coach or something" but admitted that it is unlikely as he will immediately be recognized as Riggins.

The Latest Update on Friday Night Lights Reboot

Last month, it was officially confirmed that the Friday Night Lights reboot has landed on Peacock, beating Netflix in the bidding war.

Original series showrunner Jason Katims and director Peter Berg will be involved as executive producers. The project remains in development phase.

The reboot will be set following a devastating hurricane when a rag-tag high school football team and their damaged, interim coach make an unlikely bid for a Texas High School State Championship and become a beacon of light for their town.

It is set to focus on brand new characters of players and coaches that we will follow in the new version. There is no release window set yet for the project.
