Taron Egerton has addressed the fan cast speculations and rumors that he might be taking the mantle of Wolverine in the MCU.
For the past few years, the Kingsman star has become the favorite among fans on who they want to see play the MCU's Wolverine. While Hugh Jackman returned to the iconic role last year, Marvel Studios is expected to hire a new actor who will take the mantle when they reintroduce the X-Men in the main MCU timeline.
Is Taron Egerton Interested in Playing Wolverine in the MCU?

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Egerton addressed the ongoing fan cast speculations regarding him potentially playing the role of Wolverine in the MCU.
While he is flattered that fans want to see him take the mantle, he is unsure whether he would like to play the iconic mutant since Jackman has become synonymous with the role.
"The Wolverine thing is almost like a joke at this point. Every time I have a project come out, there’s a moment where people talk about it, and I’m the one person who is not qualified to talk about it. It’s quite strange, but it’s flattering," the Golden Globe winner said.
"It’s always lovely to think that anybody would want you to play a beloved role, but I also think no one is ever going to accept anyone in that role other than Hugh Jackman. He’s completely synonymous with it."
Egerton's remarks come as it was reported recently that Marvel Studios is currently developing a new X-Men movie that will be released sometime after Avengers: Secret Wars.
What to Expect in the MCU's Version of X-Men
Thunderbolts* director Jake Schreier is set to helm the MCU reboot of X-Men. No release date has been set yet for the film, but it is expected to be part of the franchise's next saga.
In a recent interview, Schreier confirmed that his take on the iconic Marvel team will be very different from the previous iterations in the Fox era.
"Yeah, I think that’s fair to say. There’s that red sniper dot out there somewhere, you know… But to be able to explore all of the ideas that are inherent to that rich source material, but also at the scale inherent to the source material, that’s like a very rare and fortunate opportunity. That’s very exciting," he said.
Feige also confirmed when he talked to the reporters that their take on the X-Men will be "youth-oriented."
"Yeah, it’s official. Jake Schreier is doing X-Men for us. Very lucky, and we’re very, very lucky to have him, and very excited to have him. And so we’re beginning. It’s all starting now. Script’s underway. Jake’s an incredibly smart guy, and he’s an incredibly talented filmmaker," he said.
"We had a great experience with him on Thunderbolts, and if you saw that movie, what he did with those character interactions, he also has his pulse on, shall we say, a younger demographic. Not, he’s younger than me, for sure, but he’s tapped into that in a way that I think is important. It was important for Thunderbolts, much more important for X-Men, because X-Men, as it was in the comics, will be a very youth-oriented, focused, and cast movie."
