Stranger Things season 5 is over; however, fans can't help but feel that the Duffer Brothers have something else in store.
And it doesn't help that recent interviews with the Stranger Things stars have just been as cryptic as the ending, or so everyone seems to agree.
What Stranger Things Stars Have Been Saying About the Alleged Secret Finale
In recent developments, fans of the Netflix flagship series wholeheartedly began a Conformity Gate theory, in which the Stranger Things finale might've been a fake ending.
Apart from inconsistent clues such as Steve Harrington becoming a baseball coach, Will's unresolved roles and questions, and the uncanny 'happy' ending, new interviews with the cast members seem to cryptically hide something.
Despite the popularity surrounding the Conformity Gate conspiracy, none of the cast and show hosts have ever brought it up. Not even when the mascot of the Philadelphia Flyers, which was a part of the play, The First Shadow, directly tagged the show writers about the potential secret ending.

Sadie Sink, who played Max in the series, believes that El is dead, and that Mike's "one last story" is saying goodbye to their childhood. To Sink, the happy ending of El being potentially alive might be a "coping thing" which is "stronger" in her interpretation.
As for Jamie Campbell Bower, who played Vecna/Henry Creel/Mr. WhatsIt/One, the ending of being beheaded by Joyce Byers (Winona Ryder) felt right for the series. So, what are the Stranger Things crew really up to? The most mysterious clue comes from what seems to be a fourth-wall breaker content with none other than the Vecna star.
The Tonight Show's Cryptic Message in Vecna Star's The Pounds Upside Down
At first glance, the Turn the Pounds Upside Down aerobics video starring Jamie (aka Vecna) may seem to be a parody take of the series. But knowing how Stranger Things fans operate, there are clues and hints in every part of the video.
The first one being that the title of the segment is Turn the Pounds Upside Down with a Volume 3, cleverly placed in plain sight.
Secondly, one of the first moves the aerobics show taught the audience was to "Open the gate" while using their hands to imitate the motion.
Not to mention, the chanting Jamie does: "Push them out, pull them in," a couple of times throughout the segment, which could signify both the audience and Mike and his friends being "pushed" and "pulled" right into the dimension where Vecna cast his illusion that Hawkins is no longer in danger.
The aerobics video only grew darker when Jamie turned serious, and the lights dimmed to a red color as he said his next lines, "You are the light," and "Tomorrow, it begins."
Just as the video ended, Jamie started ticking the time as part of the "aerobics" demonstration, leading fans to conclude two things: One, there might be big news coming about Stranger Things very soon, and two, that there might be a hidden 9th episode or a Stranger Things volume 3, after all.
For now, all seasons of Stranger Things are streaming on Netflix.
