The highly-anticipated season 2 of the hit Netflix series Squid Game finally arrived recently. Fans are already excited for season 3 and wondering whether it will be the final chapter.
The recent season saw Gi-hun (aka Player 456) rejoining the Squid Game with new participants as he vowed revenge against the mysterious figures involved in the deadly competition.

Is Squid Game Season 3 the Final Season? When is it Coming Out?
Yes, Squid Game season 3 will also be the final season of the hit Netflix series.
While there was a three-year gap between the airing of seasons 1 and 2, fans don't need to wait any longer for season 3 as it is scheduled to release on Netflix in 2025.
Productions for seasons 2 and 3 reportedly took place back-to-back from July 2023 to June 2024.
Some fans might argue that ending the series with season 3 might be too early, but perhaps creator Hwang Dong-hyuk didn't have more plans beyond a three-season plan. Netflix is also turning it into a franchise with a reality show and a rumored American version.
Nevertheless, fans will only need to wait for less than a year as Netflix is eyeing a summer or fall release for the final season.
What Fans Should Expect in Squid Game Season 3
Season 2 of Squid Game ended on a major cliffhanger as Gi-hun and the other players failed to do a successful uprising against the Front Man and the people in charge of the game.
As teased by the second season finale's mid-credits scene, the games will continue in the third season. They will also likely address the aftermath of Gi-hun's actions and how he will continue his fight.
There is also an unresolved storyline regarding Jung-ho and his mercenaries as they attempt to find the mysterious Squid Game island and rescue Gi-hun.
"I am beyond excited to be writing this letter to announce the date for Season 2 and share the news of Season 3, the final season," director/writer Hwang shared in a statement.
"The fierce clash between [Gi-hun and Front Man’s] two worlds will continue into the series finale with Season 3, which will be brought to you next year.
Hwang also teased, "I am thrilled to see the seed that was planted in creating a new Squid Game grow and bear fruit through the end of this story. We’ll do our best to make sure we bring you yet another thrill ride."
