Shanks is one of the main characters in One Piece Film: Red. He has a big role in the film, which is why die-hard One Piece fans are anticipating his behavior. Even outside the movie, Shanks has left fans guessing about his true identity and nature. But, is Shanks good or evil in One Piece Film: Red?

One Piece Film: Red is a movie about family bonds. It follows Uta, Shanks' daughter, as she hosts a once-in-a-lifetime concert on Elegia Island, the island of music, for all of her fans, including the Straw Hat Pirates.

Things changed abruptly when other pirates and even navy officers came after Uta's life.

Shanks is not evil in One Piece Film: Red. In fact, he arrived at the right time and place after hearing that the marines were coming after Utaā€™s life.

All throughout One Piece Film: Red, Shanks sided with the good, like the rest of the Red Hair Pirates.

What Did Shanks Do in One Piece Film: Red?

Shanks arrived on Elegia Island after learning that the marines were on their way to take Uta's life.

He rushes over to the island with the other Red Hair Pirates because he treats Uta like a real daughter.

Fortunately, Shanks arrived just in time to prevent the marines, like Kizaru, from capturing his daughter.

Shanks not only protected Uta, but he also allowed the Red Hair Pirates to protect those caught up in Uta's plans to usher in a new era of a world without pirates.

Despite Uta using her victims' unconscious bodies to antagonize them, the Red Hair Pirates did not harm any civilians. They also kept the Marines from slaughtering everyone.

Shanks and the Red Hair Pirates had made contact with the Straw Hat Pirates in Uta's World by the end of One Piece Film: Red.

They also worked with some Big Mom Pirates, including Charlotte Katakuri, to transport all the victims' consciousness back into the real world.

At the same time, the Red Hair Pirates, Straw Hat Pirates, Heart Pirates, Helmeppo and Koby, and some Big Mom Pirates, such as Brulee, Katakuri, and Oven, attacked the Tot Demon King who possessed Uta's body.

Did Shanks Abandon Uta in One Piece Film: Red?

In One Piece Film: Red, Shanks did not abandon Uta. Instead, Shanks took responsibility for Uta's actions on Elegia Island at the time.

Uta unknowingly awakened the Tot Demon King, who was sleeping beneath the castle of Elegia Island, after eating the Song Song Devil Fruit.

As a result, it possessed her young body and proceeded to destroy everything on the island, killing everyone except Gordon, the King of Elegia.

That's when Shanks stepped in to stop Uta and put the Tot Demon King to sleep once more.

Shanks decides to take full responsibility in order to protect Uta's well-being and dreams.

The Red Hair Pirates fled the island as criminals, entrusting Uta to Gordon's care. Shanks also told Gordon not to tell the truth to Uta.

Uta's hatred for Shanks grew over time. She believed Gordon's lies about them abandoning her after destroying Elegia Island and stealing its treasures.

Eventually, Uta decided to create a new era wherein pirates do not exist.
