Is Rebel Moon Part of the Star Wars Franchise?
Did you know that Rebel Moon was initially supposed to be a Star Wars movie? The idea of Rebel Moon came 20 years ago when the former Justice League director Zack Snyder pitched his story to Lucasfilm.
There's a full story that Snyder himself opened up about in a recent interview with Empire:
Continuing off, the helmer wanted an R-rated film for Rebel Moon, which would obviously not work well under Disney and Lucasfilm. It was only a decade later when Snyder developed Rebel Moon the way he wanted it to happen in his own accords.
As per SlashFilm, Zack Snyder's wife and producing partner Deborah Snyder expressed just how relieved they were to not have Rebel Moon debut under Lucasfilm:
Rebel Moon Still Has Star Wars Elements To It
No matter how much Snyder attempts to draw away from having his Rebel Moon classified as a Star Wars movie, the helmer admits that nothing could ever top one of the greatest Hollywood franchises to exist.
Recently, Snyder even told ScreenRant that even though Rebel Moon might garner Star Wars elements to it, he still took his own spin on it:

Zack Snyder's Rebel Moon is Not Your Typical Star Wars Story
In the same interview, Snyder added just how 'more intimate' the sci-fi elements feel in Rebel Moon, "It's more of a dieselpunk world than a steampunk world. There is a sort of higher-energy source than gasoline since they have a way of jumping across vast swaths of the universe, but the technology hasn't really changed in quite a while."
Though Rebel Moon still drew inspiration from the 1954 film, Seven Samurai, by Akira Kurosawa (and even somewhat Dune-like in some instances), the upcoming blockbuster is taking a different turn in telling an intergalactic adventure, which you can check out from the official synopsis below:
