Is Netflix's Monster Series Getting a Fourth Season? Here's What We Know

Monster: The Ed Gein Story

Monster: The Ed Gein Story

The Netflix crime drama anthology series Monster recently released its third season, which focused on serial killer Ed Gein, whose crimes served as inspiration for the horror classic Psycho.

While the new season was not well-received by critics, it is already hitting the Netflix worldwide charts and will likely become one of the streamer's hits this year. Now, fans have been wondering whether the hit series will have a fourth season and which well-known killer will be the next focus.

Is Netflix's Monster Already Renewed for a Fourth Season?

Fortunately for fans, Netflix has already renewed Monster for a fourth season. Not only that, they already have a subject matter in mind as they embark on their next killer (pun intended) story.

Lizzie Borden will be the main focus for the fourth season. Ella Beatty (daughter of Hollywood legends Warren Beatty and Annette Bening) has been cast to play the coveted role after an extensive months-long audition process.

In case you're not familiar with the story, Borden was an infamous young woman accused of murdering her parents with an axe in 1892. After being tried by the authorities, she was eventually acquitted of the case, although her story remains popular to this day.

Production for the fourth season is expected to begin this fall, with the possibility that it will be released next year in the same window similar to the previous seasons of the show.

Who Else is Starring in Monster Season 4?

Aside from Beatty, Monster season 4 will also star Vicky Krieps as the Bordens’ live-in maid, Bridget Sullivan, Rebecca Hall as Lizzie’s stepmother, Abby Borden, Billie Lourd as Lizzie’s older sister Emma, and Jessica Barden as Lizzie’s actress friend, Nance O’Neill.

Charlie Hunnam, who played Ed Gein in the third season, will return to the fourth season for a different role. He will be playing Andrew Borden, Lizzie's father.

The other casting details regarding the fourth season are still under wraps. Max Winkler, who directed the majority of the third season, is confirmed to return as the director for the next season, including the first episode.

For now, fans should wait for more news and updates regarding the fourth season in the coming weeks or months.
