One of the questions that fans have regarding Avatar: Fire and Ash is whether Miley Cyrus has a role in the film, considering her participation in the promotional campaign.
James Cameron's epic science-fiction saga is back this year with a third movie that will expand the world of Pandora and introduce a new Na'vi tribe called the Ash People. Fans have been excited to see what they have in store for the new installment and whether it will be able to live up to the same level and entertainment quality as the previous films.
However, some have also noticed that Cyrus has been promoting the film. Does she have a role? What is her involvement? Let's find out.
What Is Miley Cyrus' Role in Avatar: Fire and Ash?
Cyrus is not playing any role in Avatar: Fire and Ash. She is not participating in the new film as an actress or even in a cameo appearance as a Na'vi character.
Instead, she is involved in the movie as the performer of the theme song, "Dream As One," which will be played in the end credits.
She co-wrote the song with Andrew Wyatt, Mark Ronson, and Simon Franglen. This also puts her in the awards conversation, as this could be her gateway to receiving her first-ever Oscar nomination for Best Original Song.
It was released on music streaming platforms last November 14, one month before the film's release in theaters.
Speaking with Extra TV during the Los Angeles premiere of the film, Cyrus revealed that she landed the job after a chance encounter with Cameron during a Disney Legend event.
"I was inducted as a Disney Legend at the same time as James Cameron. So, as we were both waiting to go on, it's like, ‘Well, what are you up to?' and ‘What are you up to?' And he was up to Avatar," she said. "So, I kind of had that introduction and in that place that was very full-circle for me and… he calls us ‘Legends-in-law.'"
