- Quick Answer: Mike Colter is officially in talks with Marvel to return as Luke Cage, citing unfinished arcs and the return of his Netflix-era co-stars as motivation.
Mike Colter recently addressed his potential return as Luke Cage in the MCU, as fans continue to clamor for him to reprise his iconic role after years of absence.
With Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock and Krysten Ritter's Jessica Jones set to reunite in the upcoming second season of Daredevil: Born Again, some are now wondering whether Mike Colter's Luke Cage will follow suit. After all, he was one of the beloved characters of the Netflix Marvel era, and some fans felt that his journey was far from over.
Is Mike Colter Finally Returning as Luke Cage?

In a recent interview with The Direct, Colter shared that he is open to returning as Luke Cage in the MCU and is still in talks with Marvel about potentially reprising his role.
"Look, I mean, here’s the thing: I have been talking to Marvel, and Jessica [Jones]’ back, and there’s a lot of story left to tell, and I just think that it’d be a shame for me not to pop back up," he said.
Colter also felt that there is still unfinished business with his character, which is why he is open to continuing playing him.
"Yeah, absolutely. When I first finished filming Luke Cage, I was sort of ready to do other things and so, as an actor, I’m just looking for something that’s different, and something interesting, and something that I can just sink my teeth into, that scares me a little bit, and something that comes out of left field a little bit," he added.
However, Colter also has certain conditions on how he would like to see Luke Cage get portrayed once he returns to the role in the MCU.
"I definitely would want to see him find out what it’s like to have the power and complete control of the neighborhood and see if he can do the right thing and at the same time, keep his hands from getting dirty," he said.
"Cause I think, a lot of times, you need to commit crimes to actually fight crime, and it’s hard to say, because most of the time, you go, if you do things the right way, you wouldn’t have to break the law. But unfortunately, you have to fight at the same level as other people are fighting, so it’s really too hard to be able to stop something if you’re not willing to go to those levels."
What to Expect in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2

Aside from the main cast returning, fans can expect the long-awaited comeback of Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones, making her the second Defenders main cast member to return in the MCU.
