While everyone is focused on Marvel Studios bringing the X-Men to the MCU, there are people who are looking at the re-introduction of the Fantastic Four. While we don't have any update on that project, it's possible this new casting for Ant-Man could give us a clue as to what they're planning for Marvel's First Family.
As reported earlier, Lovecraft Country's Jonathan Majors has been cast in Ant-Man 3 as Kang the Conqueror. In the comics, Kang's alter-ego is that of Nathaniel Richards and it's implied that he's a possible descendant of Reed Richards a.k.a. Mr. Fantastic of the Fantastic Four. Not to mention, Kang's first appearance was in a Fantastic Four comic, and there are speculations that Ant-Man 3 could be teasing the arrival of the Four.
Not only that we saw Kang make an appearance in Loki this summer.
With Majors being black, it's possible that Marvel could be planning on casting the part of Reed Richards with a black actor as well. Some are already fan casting William Jackson Harper (The Good Place) as Marvel's smartest man.
Maybe because I've been personally fan-casting it myself for years, I still want John Krasinski for the part of Reed Richards. I kind of like the meta-casting that Krasinski and his wife Emily Blunt would play the role of fictional couple Reed Richards and Sue Storm. Then again, I think Harper would make a good Richards after playing the book smart Chidi Anagonye.
For now, no release date has been set for either Ant-Man 3 or Fantastic Four, but Black Widow is set to hit theaters on Nov. 6.
