Apple recently shared a promising update on the potential sequel to its blockbuster hit F1: The Movie, as fans patiently wait for news.
Last year, the Brad Pitt-starring sports film was released to massive box office success and widely praised by audiences and critics. It also ended up receiving four Oscar nominations, including Best Picture. Fans have been wondering whether its major success will lead to the development of a sequel. Now, we have a new update.
Is F1: The Movie Sequel Finally Happening?

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Apple's senior vice president of Services, Eddy Cue, and Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali opened up about the potential sequel to F1: The Movie during the inaugural press day for Apple TV.
Domenicali teased that there have been ideas of doing a sequel, but nothing official has been set yet for now.
"Stay tuned. We’re going to tell you something more in the future. Never say never. But we need to digest more the success of this movie because it was something unique," he said.
"And if you want to think of a new one, it has to be really, very, very good. Therefore, if this will happen, it will not be for next year. But maybe next year we’re going to be here [at the press day], and hopefully we have something more to announce [then]."
While fans are waiting for the sequel, they can watch the F1 races on Apple TV since it is now the exclusive U.S. broadcast home.
"I’ve got a great announcement for it. We’ve got 24 F1 movies this year on Apple TV. I don’t know the ending, and so it is the best unscripted drama that there could be in the world," Cue said.
What is the Potential Storyline for F1: The Movie Sequel?
In a November 2025 interview, director Joseph Kosinski shared his ideas on how he plans to continue Sonny Hayes' adventure in a potential sequel if ever they decide to move forward with the idea.
"I personally would love to see what other adventures Sonny Hayes has in his future. I’d love to see what’s happened with the APXGP team and Joshua Pearce, and see how his career goes," he said.
"So I would love to be able to tell another chapter in that story, and it’s something we just started kinda dreaming about, and it’s fun to be in this stage of imagining what that might be."
For now, fans should stay tuned for more news and updates regarding the potential F1 sequel in the future.
