Billy Bob Thornton has finally set the record straight on the rumors that he is leaving Landman after starring for two seasons.
The hit Taylor Sheridan-created Paramount+ series recently aired its second-season finale, setting the stage for what fans can expect in the third season. However, there have also been online rumors that it might be Thornton's last appearance in the series despite the early renewal. Is there any truth to the rumor? Will we see Tommy Norris again?
Is Billy Bob Thornton Leaving Landman After Season 2?

Speaking recently with USA Today, Thornton addressed the rumors that have been surfacing online that he is departing Landman following the second season finale.
Not only has he denied that he is leaving the series, but he also described it as just "AI-generated crap."
"There’s an AI report that Demi [Moore] and I are a couple now, and there’s one that I’m leaving the show. They have nothing to do with reality," he said.
Thornton also emphasized, "I’ll be there," when he addressed whether he will be returning in the third season following its renewal.
When the addition of Sam Elliott in the second season was brought up, the Landman star shared that he is willing to be part of the series as long as it can last, since he's been enjoying doing it.
"It’s been great working with Sam. And I love doing the show. I’ll be here as long as it plays out. If it’s five years, great. If it’s six, I’m there," he said.
Fans have nothing to worry about since we have assurance now that Thornton will remain in the series, and the rumors that some fans have been seeing online are not true.
What to Expect in Landman Season 3
The second season finale of Landman ended with Tommy Norris setting up a deal to start his own oil company after he was fired by Cami Miller in the penultimate episode.
While it may seem like a happy scenario for the main character, it could also be the beginning of the storm as we step into the third season when it airs.
"The end is the beginning of the season. What's interesting about it is that Tommy's not the kind of guy who ever trusts happiness," Thornton teased to Esquire.
"But just for this one moment—now that it’s going to be the family's company, and at the end when he tells the coyote 'You can't have today'—Tommy lets himself be happy for a change. But I still think he's wearily happy, if you know what I mean?"
So far, no release window has been set yet for the third season of Landman. For now, fans should wait for news and updates in the coming months.
