Is Anissa on Invincible's side? One of the most terrifying female Viltrumite warriors just arrived on Earth and made her on-screen debut. She wanted to try reasoning with Mark before pushing the Viltrum Empire's propaganda but somehow doesn't take things too far with the Earth hero. Why is that?

Is Anissa on Invincible's Side in the Series?
Anissa appeared out of the blue in Invincible season 2 episode 7 titled I'm Not Going Anywhere. Despite Mark's attempt to make things right with his date with Amber, Anissa threatens she'll kill his girlfriend if he refuses to listen to reason.
Like any other high-ranking Viltrumite warrior, Anissa wants one thing from Invincible: to go forth with his mission to conquer Earth for a new Viltrum Empire.
Initially, Anissa wanted to talk some sense into Nolan's (aka Omni-Man) son. However, after seeing how weaker Mark is as part-Viltrumite, she knows he doesn't stand a chance against her or any other potential monster waiting on Earth's doom.
Let's get one thing straight: Anissa sees the good in the Viltrumites' goal of "making Earth better." While she attempts to see Invincible's side on why humans are better off without an alien ruler, she has yet to entirely side with Mark.
Instead, she offers him advice that the next Viltrumite warrior coming to Earth won't be as pleasant and understanding as she has been during their meeting.
While it remains to be seen whether Anissa will change her mind in the series, she's a much more controversial figure in the original comic books... and fans are hoping the animated show would write a different storyline.

What Made Anissa Controversial in the Invincible Comics
In the Invincible comic books, Anissa is quite firm when it comes to forcing Mark to understand why she seeks the Viltrumites to win over Earth.
At one point in her story arc, she sexually assaults Mark in her attempt to fulfill her duty to procreate on Earth.
Despite Mark being evidently horrified and heavily traumatized by her actions, Anissa doesn't see anything wrong or regretful from her advances. She merely saw Mark as a pawn.
What makes this even more complicated is that Anissa's arc of siding with Earth stems from the aftermath. When Mark left Earth, he came back to a changed Anissa.
Anissa raised the baby she had from Mark and fell in love with a human. This is how she ends up switching sides to save and defend Earth. As part of her redemption, she sacrifices herself to save Eve.
