Apart from Harrison Ford’s dawning debut in the MCU, the 80-year-old actor is set to grace the screens once again as the iconic titular hero in Indiana Jones and The Dial of Destiny. Now, nearing the release of Indiana Jones 5, Disney reveals the jaw-dropping budget they set off for, hopefully, the last film in the franchise.
According to Forbes, Disney announced that Indiana Jones and The Dial of Destiny’s budget was nearly $300 million ($294.7 million, to be exact), which declares the fifth installment as the most expensive film in the franchise, and perhaps even one of the most expensive films of all time.
See, the previous Indiana Jones films, The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, was released way back in 2008 which had a budget of merely $185 million. Despite this, it earned nearly $800 million at the box office. Seeing as Indiana Jones 5 is also set to be the first film to NOT be directed by Steven Spielberg (who helmed the four previous films), along with theatrical releases barely creating new blockbusters, it is quite difficult to forecast whether the fifth Indiana Jones is set to be a success.

It is also worth noting that Disney is currently suffering from a massive subscribers loss on their streaming platform for the first time since its 2019 debut. Not to mention, the company laid off 7000 as newly reinstated CEO Bob Iger goes under vast reconstruction amidst the decline in their subscribers count.
Knowing Disney, films that come out in theaters are soon bound to find their streaming home on Disney Plus. They did the exact same thing in their most recent films such as Strange World and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, both of which thrived on the platform, so hopefully, this would be able to set things back on track for the company in reclaiming subscribers.
Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is currently slated to be released on June 30, 2023.
