Thomas Shelby is about to mark his return—but he's not the same famous gypsy gangster we knew in the original Netflix series. Or at least, that's what he believes. Considering how things ended in Peaky Blinders season 6, could the film truly allow Tommy the rebirth he's always wanted? Here's a quick recap and how the film could continue his legacy.
WARNING: This article contains MAJOR SPOILERS for Peaky Blinders finale and potentially, The Immortal Man movie, so proceed with caution.

Of the unluckiest Shelbys, Tommy is one difficult enemy to kill. He's survived more than he's nearly died, but the finale had him clutching for what remains in his life. He discovers he has a terminal tuberculoma diagnosis, a type of brain tumor that could lead to his death.
Tommy, not one to keep his patience in check, decides he would orchestrate his own death by setting out on the road as he torched his mansion with dynamite to kill himself and beat the tumor. He retired, said goodbye to the family, and even handed over the business to his sister, Ada.
It wasn't until he realized that the fascist doctor, Dr. Holford, was connected to Oswald Mosley, a man who wanted Tommy out of the picture, and manipulated the false diagnosis to have the strongest Shelby pull the trigger on himself. So what did Tommy do? What Tommy and Shelby do best: revenge. But not in the usual way they do it.
Instead of ammunition, Tommy took the opportunity to set his past life ablaze, in his attempt to start a new life, and ride the symbolic rebirth he believes the white horse to be. Now, we're onto where the movie will likely take us.
Where Will The Immortal Man Pick Things Up From the Series Finale?
In Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man, Tommy Shelby is back in Birmingham in 1940, set a couple of years after the events of the original show. During World War II, as the official premise states, he "becomes involved in secret wartime missions based on true events, facing new threats as he reckons with his past and rising national stakes."
Unfortunately, fans hoping to see Tommy get his revenge on Oswald might be disappointed. Previously, Sam Clafin, who played Mosley, confirmed he won't be returning, as much as he would've loved to "revisit the character."
That being said, the film will likely focus on Tommy's self-imposed exile to face his own demons, and make a major decision: whether to confront the legacy he built, or burn everything to the ground.
In the meantime, fans can wait for Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man to premiere in select cinemas on March 6, 2026. Stay tuned for more updates on the movie.
