In a recent interview with Deadline, Cretton opened up about Holland's injury during the filming of Spider-Man: Brand New Day and how it affected their production schedule.

Fans noticed that Sony and Marvel did not move the release date of the film, even with the production delays and the actor's on-set injury.

The filmmaker explained that, when the injury happened, he was more concerned about the actor's health, and the release date schedule was more of the studio's problem rather than his.

"I mean, first of all, when someone gets hurt, I’m not thinking about his schedule. I was just like, I hope Tom’s okay. I mean, yeah, I’ve grown to love him. And anybody who gets hurt on my set is just like a terrible, terrible moment," Cretton said.

"Did I think about the release date? Not really. It’s not really my job. That’s more Sony’s job. I just make sure that my actors are healthy and ready to keep moving. And we took a little break, and then we jumped back on the horse and kept going."

Despite Holland's injury, which led to a slight setback in production, the film still managed to finish everything on time, and they managed to stay on track for the July 2026 release date.

What to Expect in Spider-Man: Brand New Day

Spider-Man: Brand New Day will mark an entirely new chapter for Peter Parker and Spider-Man. Four years have passed since the events of No Way Home, and Peter is now an adult living entirely alone, having voluntarily erased himself from the lives and memories of those he loves.

Crime-fighting in a New York that no longer knows his name, he's devoted himself entirely to protecting his city, a full-time Spider-Man, but as the demands on him intensify, the pressure sparks a surprising physical evolution that threatens his existence, even as a strange new pattern of crimes gives rise to one of the most powerful threats he has ever faced.

The cast includes Tom Holland, Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Tramell Tillman, Michael Mando, Mark Ruffalo, and Liza Colon-Zayas.

The film is set to release in theaters on July 31. It will also be available on IMAX in select international markets.
