After Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) officially takes up the mantle of Captain America from Steve Rogers (Chris Evans), he’s now set to lead the new Avengers team in the highly anticipated Avengers: Doomsday, and it looks like its members have finally been revealed.
The 2025 MCU movies have introduced a new mystery that the next Avengers film will try to resolve, with both Captain America: Brave New World and Thunderbolts** setting up the foundations of this new team.
So, who will its members be, and how will they differ from the past rosters? Read on to find out.
Who are the New Members of the Avengers?
Brave New World revealed that Sam Wilson would lead the new Avengers, and this team will, of course, include Falcon (Danny Ramirez).
But while Marvel has yet to officially confirm the rest of its new members, a Disney event in Italy (as shared by @AvengersUpdated on X) seemingly revealed a lineup that includes Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Loki (Tom Hiddleston), Shang-Chi (Simu Liu), and Ant-Man (Paul Rudd).
As the host announced Disney’s lineup of movies for 2026, they reminded viewers that the year would conclude with “the mega Marvel event,” Avengers: Doomsday.
“Part of the cast, as you surely know, was revealed in a record-breaking five-and-a-half-hour livestream that garnered 275 million online views,” the announcer said in Italian, translated into English via subtitles. “The film will feature our new villain, the Fantastic Four, the Wakandan warriors, the heroic Avengers, the misfit Thunderbolts, and, while we’re at it, the X-Men.”
Photos of each group’s members were displayed on the monitor, with Mackie, Ramirez, Hemsworth, Hiddleston, Liu, and Rudd appearing on the screen when the “Avengers” were mentioned.
“We can’t wait to see how these characters will come together to face Doctor Doom, played by Robert Downey Jr.,” the host continued.
How Will the New Avengers Differ from the Original Lineup?

Originally, the Avengers team consisted of six founding members: Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Captain America (Chris Evans), Thor, Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner).
The new one also appears to have six members, but this update doesn’t necessarily mean they are the only heroes who will be part of Sam Wilson’s new Avengers team.
In fact, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige revealed in April that the live-stream announcement only revealed “many, not all” cast members.
With that being said, major franchise players like Evans, Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange, and more may still appear.
Either way, it can’t be denied that the alleged new members bring a wide range of powers, from two gods, to the holder of the Ten Rings, to the hero who defeated Kang the Conqueror, plus Sam Wilson and his new partner.
With Sam Wilson taking the lead, the new lineup represents a generational shift, a different worldview, and a more contemporary form of leadership. It also feels more sprawling and inclusive than the previous small core of legacy heroes.
With such a massive ensemble and expanded scope, Avengers: Doomsday seems poised to embrace scale and diversity, bringing together characters from many different corners of MCU continuity.
Avengers: Doomsday is set to be released on December 18.
