Itās still a mystery, an unresolved case, as to how Kaname got amnesia in Oblivion Battery. One day, Kaname was perfectly fine, and the next, he was in a hospital, apologizing to Kiyomine for losing his memories and for making corny jokes.
Kaname Kei is one-half of the strongest battery in the series. He was once a formidable baseball player, capable of crushing the hopes and dreams of young players.
When Did Kei Kaname Lose His Memories?
Kei Kaname lost his memory in the first episode of Oblivion Battery, just as they were being recruited by top schools to join their respective baseball clubs.
In addition to Kiyomine Haruka, Kei was expected to attend a strong school with competitive facilities that would help them take their skills and abilities to new heights throughout their high school years.
As much as Kiyomine wants to continue his baseball career, he refuses to play without Kaname by his side, believing that he is the only one capable of catching his throws.
However, Kaname has changed drastically, from a disciplined and ambitious partner to a dumb, chronic complainer who despises playing baseball.
Worse, Kaname chose to join a school without a proper baseball team just because it was the closest to his home!
How Did Kaname Get Amnesia in the First Place? Theories Explored
The Oblivion Battery manga is still ongoing, which means the series has yet to uncover the incident that erased Kaname's memory.
Fans, on the other hand, have made theories as to how Kaname got amnesia in Oblivion Battery in the first place.
The majority of fans believe that Kaname was involved in an accident, perhaps a car accident or a simple slip-up at home, that led him to hit his head and lose his memory.
Who knows, maybe he was climbing the roof of their house and fell in the process.
Others think Kaname was hit by a baseball thrown at him by Kiyomine at some point, based on how often Oblivion Battery showed how terrified the new Kaname is when trying to catch Kiyomine's ball in the field.
Despite wearing a helmet always, Kaname struggled to keep his eyes open to catch Kiyomine's ball. He even evaded the ball several times until he hardly became accustomed to it.
We also speculate that Kaname's desire to support Kiyomine's baseball career hurt his mental health. He was so intent on getting Kiyomine to the top that it probably took a toll on him.
As always, take all of these predictions with a grain of salt, as the Oblivion Battery manga has yet to explain the cause of Kaname's sad condition.
