Henry Cavill's Deadpool & Wolverine cameo underwent several designs before Marvel Studios decided on the final look of his beefy Wolverine variant. Here's how Henry Cavill's version of Logan almost paid homage to his Superman role from the now-defunct DCEU franchise.

Did You Know That 'Cavillrine' Nearly Paid Homage to His Superman Roots?

Henry Cavill joining the MCU had been a long time coming. Ever since his unfortunate exit from DC, fans have anticipated to see him join the other major comic book franchises sporting different tights and colors.

No, not talking about Captain Britain. Not yet, at least.

Had Deadpool not been jumping through the hoops of the Multiverse, we wouldn't have seen Henry Cavill's "Cavill-rine" cameo in the fit white shirt revving up his motorbike as he smoked his cigar.

Well, as it turns out, concept artist Wesley Burt had some alternate ideas for what "Cavill-rine's" cameo would look like as an MCU variant of Logan.

From the white shirt to a green flannel one, he even sketched a Superman inspo of a red flannel shirt that closely resembled Cavill's Clark Kent aka Superman in DC.

Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy recently shared that they had intentions of poking fun at the other comic book-founded movie studio and 'play with self-awareness' with Henry Cavill in mind.

"Given that Deadpool is in constant conversation with culture, it felt like a great opportunity to first of all cast Henry Cavill in a part that he would kick ass at," Levy explained, before adding, "But also to poke fun at that other comic-book-founded movie studio and play with some self-awareness there."

As Ryan Reynolds' Merc with the Mouth line went, the threequel promised, on behalf of the MCU, that they would "treat Henry Cavill better" than when he wasn't called to reprise Superman in 2022.

While it would have been indeed 'fun' to watch Deadpool 3 mock the alternate comic book franchise, donning the same Clark Kent colors wouldn't have been a good image for Cavill's Wolverine variant.

If anything, the white shirt made more sense, considering that it teased the right 'bits' that showed why he deserved to play the part in the first place.
