In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Helen Slater, who starred as the heroine in the 1984 film, gave her take on the new Supergirl movie and Alcock's performance.

Fortunately, she expressed her enthusiasm for the new DCU film and Alcock's take on the character.

"I loved the new Supergirl film," the actress said. "I thought Milly Alcock was astonishing — fierce, strong and great comic timing!"

Slater also emphasized the importance of doing reinterpretations of the character to keep the culture alive.

"My understanding is that these myths should be changing. We want reinterpretations. That keeps it alive and keeps it going. It echoes what’s happening in the culture right now. It’s fun that it evolves and keeps developing," she explained.

Aside from discussing the new Supergirl, Slater also reflected on her cameo appearance in The Flash, where she clarified that she filmed the part despite seemingly appearing in a CGI version.

"I was in this very wild machine with 600 eyes around it. But they could have just put a Barbie doll in because I’m de-aged so much. They were so kind to fly me out to London, but I don’t know that they needed to," she said.
