HBO Drops Fantastic New Trailer for His Dark Materials

With Game of Thrones ending, a lot of people are wondering what the next big show for HBO is going to be. Damon Lindelof's Watchmen is set to come out later this month, and November will see the release of His Dark Materials. Just in, HBO has released a whole new trailer for HDM.

Just in case you didn't know, His Dark Materials is the original title of The Golden Compass which was adapted into a film back in 2007. Just like Game of Thrones, it looks like this first season will follow the events of the first book; hopefully, HBO manages to stick to the series so that they can complete Philip Pullman's story.

Admittedly, The Golden Compass wasn't well-received when it first came out, and it took more than a decade before we got this reboot of the franchise. Game of Thrones creator George R.R. Martin was said to have cited the Golden Compass film as the reason he wanted his books to be turned into a series rather than a movie. Funny that it should be HBO to take His Dark Materials and reboot it the way that Martin saw fit as well.

His Dark Materials follows Lyra, a seemingly ordinary but brave young woman from another world. Her search for a kidnapped friend uncovers a sinister plot involving stolen children and becomes a quest to understand a mysterious phenomenon called Dust. As she journeys through the worlds, including our own, Lyra meets Will, a determined and courageous boy. Together, they encounter extraordinary beings and dangerous secrets, with the fate of both the living — and the dead — in their hands.

His Dark Materials comes out on HBO on Nov. 4 in the US and on BBC One on Nov. 3 for the UK and Ireland.
