HBO confirmed that the highly-anticipated season 3 of the hit drama series Euphoria has finally started filming.

It's been three years since the second season aired, and fans have been waiting for news on when the series will roll its cameras again and how it will address the large time gap between the seasons.

Euphoria Season 3 Finally Starts Production

On their official social media accounts, HBO announced that production for Euphoria season 3 has finally started.

They also showed a first-look photo of Zendaya's return as Rue Bennett which you can check here:

This is exciting news for fans as it confirms that season 3 is officially happening and it debunked the rumors for the past few months that HBO was shelving their plans for the new season.

A lot of things have also changed between the time when the second season aired and the third season begins filming as the majority of the main cast has become movie stars so it is interesting to see whether it will affect the structure of the new season.

Zendaya is also scheduled to have a busy year. Aside from Euphoria season 3, she is also set to work on Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, Spider-Man 4, and potentially Dune: Messiah during the fall.

What to Expect in Euphoria Season 3

So far, the plot details regarding Euphoria season 3 are still being kept under wraps, but it is expected to have a time jump.

"It's important because there's only so much high school drama you can deal with. And then she cheats on her boyfriend again!" Zendaya teased in an interview last year.

"I don't actually know much about what is happening. I don't quite know exactly what the season is going to look like, but I do know that the time jump is happening."

The Emmy winner continued, "It will be fascinating to see and understand these characters outside of the context of high school and how all the stuff that we saw when they were kids and they were in high school affects the adulthood they have and who they become in a much bigger world. I'll be interested to see what happens too."

Aside from Zendaya, other cast members who are expected to return are Sydney Sweeney, Jacob Elordi, Hunter Schafer, Alexa Demie, Eric Dane, and Colman Domingo.

However, Barbie Ferreira and Storm Reid have confirmed that they are not slated to return in the third season.
