- Quick Answer: Hayden Christensen pitched exploring the Clone Wars era to bring Natalie Portman back as Padmé Amidala.
Hayden Christensen has teased a possible way to bring Natalie Portman back to Star Wars as his love interest, Padmé Amidala, and the mother of his children, Luke and Leia Skywalker.
Portman was last seen in the 2005 film Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, where her character died after giving birth to Luke and Leia.
As Christensen has made his way back to the franchise in Obi-Wan Kenobi and, most recently, Ahsoka Season 2 following the completion of the sequel trilogy, he suggested how Portman could return as well.
Hayden Christensen Reveals How Natalie Portman Could Return as Padmé

Hayden Christensen graced the recent D23 Expo and talked about everything Star Wars, surprising everyone when he teased the possible return of Natalie Portman to the galaxy far, far away.
But how could that happen? There’s no denying that Padmé Amidala is one of the most famous characters Portman has played throughout her career.
And given the chance, Christensen would love to work with the A-list star again, reprising their Star Wars roles.
“I’d love to get to work with her again and play these characters together. I think there’s still an opportunity to do that,” the Canadian actor told USA Today.
Given that Padmé died in Revenge of the Sith, there’s another way that the Galactic Senator of Naboo could return.
“I love the whole Clone Wars timeline in Star Wars, and it’s been a lot of fun to get to explore that a little bit in this series. So, I would love to get to do that with her at some point,” Christensen suggested.
Considering Padmé was fully alive and active during the Clone Wars, a return could certainly happen through a story set during that period.
How Could Natalie Portman Return to the Star Wars Universe?

Star Wars has a penchant for leaning on nostalgia when it comes to its Disney+ projects, and Hayden Christensen’s return as Ahsoka Tano’s (Rosario Dawson) Jedi Master in Ahsoka is a big testament to that.
The franchise also frequently brings dead characters back to life or reveals that they survived using everything from Dark Side cloning and cybernetics to fake-out deaths, as seen with Emperor Palpatine, Darth Maul, and Boba Fett.
So, if Padmé Amidala returns, she could do so through flashbacks, visions, or previously unseen stories set during the Clone Wars, since she was very much alive throughout that period.
There could also be a new Clone Wars story set before Revenge of the Sith, when she was still an active senator working alongside Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor), and Ahsoka.
New stories could also fill in the gaps between existing episodes without changing her established fate, such as untold Clone Wars stories or exploring her relationship and secret marriage with Anakin, among others.
So, if more fans want Portman back, Disney could certainly make it happen.
