Marvel fans might consider Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) and Captain America (Chris Evans) as the exchangeable leaders of the Avengers, however, it seems like a new study is naming Hawkeye as the most valuable member of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Film Franchise Showdown has been compiling figures from the production budgets, IMDb scores, metascores, box office earnings, awards nominations, and award wins in the MCU. Not only has the company's study revealed Black Panther to have the most awards (though the film lands ninth in the value determination), but it's also declared Hawkeye to be the most valuable Avenger.
"Hawkeye has appeared in six MCU installments to date, claiming an average ROI of 5.3 per film. In comparison, each film that features Thor has an average ROI of 5.06, Captain America has an ROI of 4.9, and Iron Man has an average ROI of 4.8 per appearance," claims the study, "The detailed analysis shows that Black Panther remains the best Marvel installment to date thanks to its high box office sum and critical acclaim, while The Incredible Hulk was met with the least financial and critical success overall."
That's interesting information. Hawkeye doesn't get as much attention as the rest of the Avengers – even the Hulk has more screen time than the sharpshooter. Of course, we can't really counter how important Hawkeye really is. He might not have superpowers like Thor or great tech like Iron Man, but he's every bit important.
Marvel is currently developing a Hawkeye series for Disney+.
