Halle Bailey Reveals Disney's The Little Mermaid Teaser Poster

Disney released The Little Mermaid live-action movie teaser trailer just last month and now we get a sneak peek at Halle Bailey as Ariel in the teaser poster she tweeted. While the teaser trailer gave us a glimpse of Bailey singing the character’s iconic ‘Part of Your World’, this time, Disney released the brand new poster for the Little Mermaid. Check out Halle Bailey’s post below as the caption reads: ‘Words can’t describe how immensely honored I feel to play the mermaid of my dreams, Ariel in Disney’s The Little Mermaid. Come under the sea with me, in theaters May 26, 2023🧜🏽‍♀️'

Judging from the poster reveal, it’s the live-action version of when Ariel is looking up above the sea, yearning to be ‘part’ of the human world someday, the scene similar to the teaser trailer where Bailey sings ‘Part of Your World.’ You can watch The Little Mermaid's teaser trailer below:

With the live-action Disney film soon to hit theaters, the film is also expected to feature original songs from the 1989 animated hit with the addition of new tracks composed by Alan Menken and Diggs’ Hamilton co-star Lin-Manuel Miranda. In fact, Miranda shared his experience with Collider on working for the same film with his longtime idol, Menken.

“Yeah, Alan is the reason I’m in this business. I’m here because The Little Mermaid blew my mind. Howard Ashman and Alan Menken shaped my childhood. It took us a while to get started because I think we were both nervous to go first, to present lyrics or to present music.”

Lin-Manuel has worked on multiple musicals such as Hamilton, In the Heights, Moana, Encanto, and now, The Little Mermaid. Given his previous tracks, we’re sure to expect another hit banger for character songs soon to be revealed in The Little Mermaid. Although the songwriter admitted he couldn’t write anything new for Sebastian the crab, saying that he already loves his song so much.

“As soon as I started writing lyrics, it wrote really fast because he’s [Menken] so quick, in terms of, once he’ss got his head around the style a song is, he’s got it and he’s got 50 melodies to pick and choose from. It’s like anything else, you talk until the moment is right and you understand the musical moment you’re dramatizing, and then it’s a matter of keeping up with Alan Menken because he’s fast.”

Expect Menken and Miranda’s ‘new musicalized moments’ in Disney's The Little Mermaid live-action set to premiere on May 26, 2023.
