Warner Bros. is officially bringing back the Gremlins franchise, 37 years after the last film.
Following the huge theatrical success touted in their recent Q3 2025 earnings call, a threequel featuring the mischievous little rascals is a key part of Warner Bros.' strategy to build momentum.

Warner Bros. Discovery chief David Zaslav recently announced during the company's third-quarter earnings call on Thursday that the Gremlins franchise deserves a threequel!
Zaslav said that Steven Spielberg is back on board as executive producer through his company, Amblin Entertainment, with 1984 original film writer Chris Columbus (Harry Potter) returning to produce and direct the film.
Gremlins 3 has been confirmed to release on November 19, 2027, which will mark the return of the dark horror comedy that introduced the adorable creature called a Mogwai, who eventually adopted into a suburban family.
"Few titles are as beloved and iconic as Gremlins, and we're beyond excited to bring it back for both lifelong fans and a whole new generation," Warner Bros. Pictures' president of development and production Jesse Ehrman said in a statement.
Ehrman added, "It's a privilege to be working alongside Steven [Spielberg], Chris [Columbus], and the entire creative team, and we look forward to audiences experiencing the next installment of the magic, mayhem, and heart of Gremlins on the big screen in 2027."

Apart from famously leading the creation of the PG-13 rating, the original Gremlins blended comedy, horror, and holiday cheer into the film, simultaneously being celebrated as a Christmas movie due to its promising premise.
The first Gremlins flick follows Billy, who receives the furry creature called a Mogwai as a pet, and gets a warning to never expose it to bright light, water, or feed it after midnight.
However, once those rules were broken, the gremlin spawned more of its kind and ended up wreaking havoc in Billy's hometown on Christmas.
While there are no other confirmed details yet, such as the cast and story, there is no doubt that the pop culture icon's memorable holiday shenanigans are here to stay and expand once the threequel comes out.
