Those who have seen the first movie are excited for what's to come next in the sequel, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, which garnered high praises from those who already watched it, and director Rian Johnson reveals that there are no plans in place for a prequel for Detective Benoit Blanc.
Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery came out in theaters recently and while many are still waiting for its release on Netflix this coming December 23rd, director Rian Johnson already turns down the possibility of having a prequel for Benoit Blanc.
Detective Benoit Blanc, played by Daniel Craig, has been the main investigator for the cases he handles in Knives Out and Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, and while it would be quite a good idea to see how he became that good, director Rian Johnson isn't up for such.
Speaking with Uproxx, director Rian Johnson reveals that he isn't leaning on the possibility of having a Benoit Blanc Knives Out prequel, "This is something that I was very relieved that Daniel and I are on the same page with. I think little tiny glimpses into that is fun for me. And it's a trap that I find myself as a writer having to really push back against, just for myself."

Johnson added that Blanc, as a character, is what makes the movies work well, "Having Daniel Craig in that part, the temptation is to think that Blanc as a character is what's interesting about these movies. He's interesting in his function within the mystery, you know what I mean?"
Johnson further explained, "I don't know, the notion of building out a backstory, learning where he came from, all of that stuff, to me, I don't know, I have a natural inclination to kind of push that stuff back and to say a little goes a long way in terms of that."
Johnson reveals that the main goal is always the mystery, "Ultimately this has to be the story of the mystery. The mystery's the thing. And the detective is interesting in the way he solves his function within solving the mystery. And if we get glimpses beyond that, that's great. But I feel like a little of that goes a very long way for me."
Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery will feature another case handled by Detective Benoit Blanc as he investigates a death following tech billionaire Miles Bron's escapade to an island with friends and everything goes wrong when a murder turns up, what happened, and how it came to be.
The cast of Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery includes Daniel Craig as Benoit Blanc, Kate Hudson as Birdie Jay, Leslie Odom Jr. as Lionel Toussaint, Janelle Monáe as Cassandra "Andi" Brand, Dave Bautista as Duke Cody, Edward Norton as Miles Bron, Kathryn Hahn as Claire Debella, Madelyn Cline as Whiskey, Jessica Henwick as Peg, and Ethan Hawke in an undisclosed role.
Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery will be arriving on Netflix with a new mystery on December 23, 2022.
