Girls' Generation's Taeyeon celebrated her 34th birthday on March 9 and visited the subway to see the surprise fans prepared for her. Expecting many would recognize her in public, the K-pop idol was surprised that no one acknowledged her.
In her recent video on her YouTube channel, Taeyeon went to the subway to see the ads her fans purchased for her birthday. But while walking on the tunnel, no one seemed to recognize her.
The Public Doesn't Recognize Taeyeon at the Subway
Not being approached by many people made the hitmaker comfortable going to the subways, suggesting to herself that she should do it more often.
"They mostly look at their phones and stare at the ground," she said about the people she saw along the way.

In a post by AllKpop, fans can't help but react to the public not recognizing Taeyeon.
"I don't think people didn't recognize her. I think it might be the fans who are respecting her privacy and pretending not to see her so that she can have her freedom," one fan explained.

"I'm not interested in other people on the subway...I wouldn't have noticed even if it were the president," another said.
"On the subway, people really do look at just their phones, so if you have a hat on with a mask, then people wouldn't even be able to recognize you haha I remember Taylor Swift also wasn't recognized when she was on the subway," one netizen suggested.
