[G] I-DLE's leader Soyeon got real about how she really felt when the former member, Soojin, left the group in March 2022 in an appearance on Mnet Prime Show on Wednesday, March 29.

Aside from Soyeon, the other [G]I-DLE members also let their hearts out about Sooji's departure. Though the issue remains a sensitive topic, the girls openly discussed what they had been through.

Soyeon Shares Thoughts About Soojin's Departure from [G]I-DLE

Soojin got caught up in a school violence controversy in 2021, resulting in her decision to leave the group.

So, what could Soyeon say about it as the band leader?

"You know. If one of the protagonists in the cartoons or the movie is suddenly changed or he/she suddenly disappears, that doesn't really happen," she said, per AllKpop.

"Let's say if one of the protagonists has to quit, I actually think that drama wouldn't become a hit (popular)," she continued. "So, I thought that it would be hard for us to make it big again."

The Most Challenging Time for [G]I-DLE

Minnie then chimed in and admitted that Soojin's exit, which led to [G] I-DLE's indefinite hiatus, was one of the most challenging times she experienced.

"Can I go back to Korea? I can, right? I was so worried," she confessed.

Despite the hardships, Minnie continued and worked alone in Thailand.

"I felt so lonely, and it was tough..." she added.

Thankfully, the girls made it through and moved on from that phase. They honed their skills more and looked forward to meeting their fans again.

Due to the hiatus, they missed their co-members and wanted to promote as a group again.

[G] I-DLE's Comeback

Thankfully, [G]I-DLE finally made their much-awaited comeback with "TOMBOY," and Soyeon ensured the promotion would succeed despite the pressure.

"I thought I had to make it this time. I have to make the best song I can," she explained. "Whether it be good or bad, we needed to garner attention. I really thought that if we work hard that we can do well. I felt that this would be what decides the fate of our lives."
