It's been nearly 40 years since the beginning of the iconic Ghostbusters film franchise which took Hollywood by storm, and yet it continues to broaden its horizons with more films and series in the works.
One of them happens to be the upcoming sequel to Afterlife, which begs the question, when does Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire take place on the timeline?
When Does Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire Take Place, Exactly?
Who are you gonna call? Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire is coming out to theaters this March 29, 2024, with the promise of returning nostalgic characters such as Dr. Peter Venkman (Billy Murray), Dr. Winston Zeddemore (Ernie Hudson), Dr. Raymond Stantz (Dan Aykroyd) and Walter Peck (William Atherton).
The upcoming Ghostbusters movie is a direct sequel to the 2021 Ghostbusters: Afterlife, which means we get to see Egon Spangler's family members back in the game.
Now, as for the Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire timeline, take into consideration that the Afterlife film took place 37 years after the original 1985 film.
Since the Spangler family is technically all new to the hustle of ghost hunting, then it's likely we're looking at between six months to a full year space between the Afterlife and Frozen Empire.
Not to mention, the trailer indicated that the timeline is supposedly happening in the summer, only for the potential second Ice Age to take over and call the team to eradicate the threats.
