Whether or not you've been a fan of Ghostbusters since forever, you can't mistake the signature anti-ghost sign; it's so deeply ingrained in pop culture that just by looking at it, the franchise feels somewhat familiar, even if you have never delved in it. The announcement of the 2021 sequel Ghostbusters: Afterlife is great news for long-time fans and a great opportunity to get into hilarious ghost hunting if you haven't already. So, when is the release of Ghostbusters: Afterlife?
Ghostbusters: Afterlife Release Date in the US
Ghostbusters is an American franchise, which means that fans in the US will get the chance to watch Ghostbusters: Afterlife first. The release date for the movie is the 11th of November, 2021. Like most productions, Ghostbusters: Afterlife was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, so the original intended dates of July 2020 and then March 2021 couldn't go on.
Unfortunately, a new delay was recently announced, making the new release date the 19th of November, 2021. At least, this is not another one of the huge delays we have grown to accept due to covid - but we do hope that there won't be another.
This isn't the only delay the Ghostbusters sequel has faced, however; far from it! The second Ghostbusters film hit the theaters back in 1989 and talks about a sequel that has been going on since then, meaning that the ongoing pandemic was just one of many, many obstacles.
Ghostbusters: Afterlife Release Date in the UK
UK fans are in luck because they won't have to wait significantly longer than US viewers. Ghostbusters: Afterlife will be released in the UK on the 12th of November 2021, just one day later.
Ghostbusters: Afterlife Release Date in Australia
As is often the case with American franchises, Ghostbusters: Afterlife will air a little later in Australia. The current known release date is the 2nd of December -around twenty days later, but still before Christmas!
The impact of Ghostbusters on popular culture can't be denied. You just need to look at the various media that followed the 1984 films, from novels and comics to video games to see that the franchise shaped the supernatural comedy genre. Younger audiences got a chance to be introduced to Ghostbusters through the 2016 reboot. Even so, the Ghostbusters franchise hasn't released a ton of films compared to other franchises, meaning that the release of a new film is going to be a big thing and we look forward to it.
