With Game of Thrones 8 ultimately disappointing, fans are now hoping more than ever for George R.R. Martin to finish the last of his A Song of Ice and Fire Books. Apparently, the PR team of Air New Zealand is aware of this fan outcry, and they've released an ad calling out to Martin to finish his book there.
Martin reacts:
It's funny that New Zealand would invite Martin since it's clear that there are a lot of Game of Thrones fans who also loved Lord of the Rings. Just in case you weren't aware, they shot all of LOTR in New Zealand, so you can imagine the cross promotion intent when it came to the ad.
For now, Martin has promised that he would be finishing his book sometime in 2020. With everyone expecting it since 2017, it has been one heck of a long wait. Hopefully, with the show done, and the attention on Martin dying down, he can finally have his quiet time to finish the book. Are we even going to hope for A Dream of Spring?
While a lot of people hated how Game of Thrones ended, it was said that it was the original plan of Martin to have Bran become the king and have Jon kill Daenerys. I guess a lot of people were fine with the decision, but it's the abruptness of the development that didn't sit so well with everyone.
Let's hope Martin is able to fix things with the last books.
The Winds of Winter is expected to come out sometime in 2020.
