It's no secret that Star Wars Episode IX will be the final Skywalker Saga film and there is little doubt that it requires the ideas of the man that started it all. J.J. Abrams has just admitted that George Lucas helped him come up with how Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will play out so the saga could be given a proper conclusion.
Abrams recently spoke to IGN about working on Rise of Skywalker and figuring out how the ninth film in the Skywalker Saga should end. Not surprisingly, the Star Wars: The Force Awakens director revealed that they needed Lucas to provide them with the right ideas.
It's no surprise that Lucas was involved in completing The Rise of Skywalker. After all, Star Wars is his brainchild and only Lucas would know how the story should end. Interestingly, it may have been Lucas who insisted that Emperor Palpatine's return is the right way to go.
It has already been confirmed that Ian McDiarmid will reprise his role as Darth Sidious in Rise of Skywalker. We're just hoping that we will get to see the villain in more action before the end of the Skywalker Saga.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is scheduled for release on December 20.
