Game of Thrones: George R.R. Martin Confirms The Winds of Winter, A Dream of Spring Will Be Different from TV Show's Final Season

Let's face it: None of us was completely satisfied with the way Game of Thrones ended. Interestingly, even George R.R. Martin has no intention of repeating what happened in the last few seasons of the HBO series. The author has just confirmed that The Winds of Winter and A Dream of Spring will be very different from the show's final season!

George R.R. Martin had made it clear he wasn't happy with what happened to Game of Thrones. With that in mind, the writer confirmed on his blog that he is taking a different direction with the last two books of A Song of Ice and Fire.

"Another question that I get a lot, especially since the end of GAME OF THRONES on HBO, is whether A SONG OF ICE & FIRE, will end the same way. An architect would be able to give a short, concise, simple answer to that, but I am much more of a gardener," Martin wrote.

"My stories grow and evolve and change as I write them. I generally know where I am going, sure… the final destinations, the big set pieces, they have been my head for years… for decades, in the case of A SONG OF ICE & FIRE," he continued.

"There are lots of devils in the details, though, and sometimes the ground changes under my feet as the words pour forth," Martin concluded.

This is welcome news for fans who have been hoping that A Song of Ice and Fire will not repeat the mistakes of Game of Thrones. We're just hoping that the direction(s) Martin takes with the last two books will give the whole story a fitting conclusion.

George R.R. Martin is currently working on The Winds of Winter which has not yet been given an official release date.
