Warning: This article contains major spoilers from the Game of Thrones episode The Long Night.

Last night's episode of Game of Thrones featured the epic battle in Winterfell between the forces of Westeros and the Night King's army of the dead. As expected, several characters died fighting to protect the Seven Kingdoms, and one of the actors who plays one of the key roles is taking the moment to express his farewell.

Alfie Allen, who played Theon Greyjoy in the HBO epic fantasy series, has taken it to Instagram to honor his character after he died in last night's Game of Thrones episode. Theon and his company were tasked with defending Bran Stark in the Godswood as he tried to lure out the Night King. Theon did his duty honorably and ended up dying to the Night King while defending Bran, redeeming his character who went through significant developments throughout the entire series.

Allen shared a photo honoring his fallen character on Instagram. It's a photo of Theon's breastplate, which has the Kraken crest of House Greyjoy. Allen put a lone heart emoji with the post, and Pilou Ashbaek, who plays Theon's uncle Euron, replied with a comment, saying, "Alfie...wow...An incredible character you have created. I have loved every minute of Theon's storyline, because of your beautiful work. From the bottom of my heart THANKS. It's a been a true pleasure and I'm proud to call you my friend!"

Theon Greyjoy's death concludes the story arc of one of the most developed characters in the show. In Season 1, Theon was introduced as a ward of Lord Eddard Stark and eventually betrays the Starks. After being taken captive and tortured by Ramsay Bolton in Season 3, he is psychologically traumatized and realizes his sins he committed to the Stark family. In the final season, he leaves his sister Yara to show his support to Winterfell and volunteers to protect Bran from the Night King. Before running to his death, Bran thanks Theon and tells him that he's a good man.

Game of Thrones Season 8 will air on HBO this Sunday at 9 P.M. EST.
