In an interview on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Gal Gadot explained why she exited the role of Wonder Woman when DC Studios took over the franchise.
She claimed that there were plans to develop a third Wonder Woman movie. Still, she decided to exit the role of Wonder Woman for good after witnessing how Henry Cavill's and Patty Jenkins' exits were handled by DC Studios.
"They were like, ‘We’re going to develop it with you, the third, la la la, but I saw the way everybody else was handled, and I, you know. The Henry [Cavill] situation was not being handled elegantly, to say the least. Same with Patty [Jenkins] was not handled elegantly," Gadot said.
To recap, just a few months after Cavill returned as Superman in the post-credits scene for Black Adam, DC Studios announced that they were restarting the franchise with the DCU, and Cavill was no longer the Man of Steel moving forward. The role was eventually recast with David Corenswet.
As for Jenkins, she was told by DC Studios that her planned third Wonder Woman was no longer moving forward, and the studio would be taking a new direction for the character.
So far, DC Studios has not commented on Gadot's remarks about their handling of Cavill's and Jenkins' exit from the studio.
