With the Star Wars Celebration 2020 postponed, Funko is now unveiling the new pop figures intended to be released at the event. The pieces are based on legendary concept artist Ralph McQuarrie which includes the initial female Luke Skywalker version.
The Concept Series is a Funko line that honors McQuarrie's contributions to the beloved franchise, with bobbleheads that are based on his early concept designs for the original Star Wars. It includes Darth Vader, Chewbacca, Boba Fett, and of course, Starkiller, who's essentially a female version of Luke, or at least, the initial name of the character. You can check it out below!
McQuarrie's concept art of Starkiller, a woman wearing goggles, was believed to be the initial main character, leading to the idea that Luke was actually a female character in early drafts.
Aside from Starkiller, two new figures were unveiled celebrating The Empire Strikes Back's 40th anniversary as well. This sees the iconic Yoda moment where he lifts Luke's X-Wing as well as a supersized Stormtrooper.
While the postponement of the Star Wars Celebration certainly is a huge bummer for the fans, these Pop figures ought to get them excited. With the pieces based on McQuarrie's legendary concept designs, it'll make a unique addition to a fan's collection.
