Nina Dobrev has finally addressed the circulating dating rumors with Zac Efron.
Following her split from Shaun White, ending a five-year relationship, the Vampire Diaries alum was spotted getting cozy with the High School Musical star on a yacht on the Italian island Sardinia in September. So, what’s the real score between the two?

Barely a month after ending things with White, it seems Dobrev isn’t ready to move on just yet—but she has put the speculation surrounding her and Zac Efron to rest.
TMZ caught up with the Canadian actress at LAX on Wednesday and asked her about the dating rumors with the 37-year-old actor.
Dobrev simply shook her head, smiled, and replied, “No.” When asked if they were friends, she quickly agreed and answered with a cheerful, “Yeah.”
When pressed about how she was coping after the split, she assured she was doing well, saying things were “good.”
She added, “You know what, I’m excited for the future, and the only thing that’s guaranteed is change.”
The dating buzz between Dobrev and Efron began when the two were spotted sailing with friends along the coast.
In one photo, the 17 Again star stood behind Dobrev as she scrolled on her phone, while another showed them laughing and appearing to share light, flirtatious banter.
They were also seen hanging out with other A-listers, including Miles and Keleigh Teller, as well as Gossip Girl alum Chace Crawford.
Are Nina Dobrev and Zac Efron Both Single?
Currently, both Dobrev and Efron are single. News first broke in early September that the 36-year-old actress had parted ways with White.
“It was a mutual decision, and wasn’t an easy one, but it was made with love and a deep respect for one another,” a source allegedly close to the former couple told People.
The pair was last seen together a couple of weeks before the split, on August 31 in Los Angeles. Dobrev was later spotted without her engagement ring at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival and also removed her engagement photos from Instagram.
So far, the exact reason and timing of the breakup have not been publicly revealed.
On the other hand, Efron’s last known relationship was with model Vanessa Valladares. The two first sparked dating rumors in June 2020, and their romance reportedly began in July of the same year.
However, they allegedly broke up just 10 months later, with the reason for their split remaining unknown.
Though Dobrev has shot down the dating rumors with Efron, it’s not impossible that the two could become a couple in the future.
