Netflix has found its next unscripted hit as they are officially working on a reality competition series version of the beloved board game Clue.

To this day, the beloved Hasbro murder mystery board game is still being played by millions of people worldwide, whether it's the physical version or the online app version. There have also been attempts to turn it into a media franchise again decades after the release of the 1985 movie, which has become a cult classic.

Deadline reported that Netflix has given a green light to the reality competition series version of Clue, their next major unscripted project.

According to the logline, the series will "feature a group of contestants facing physical and mental challenges to collect clues before stepping into a real-life game of deduction and deception."

In order for the contestant to win, "they’ll have to outwit opponents and identify the who, where, and with what of the crime. Guess right and add money to the prize pot; guess wrong and they may be eliminated. They’ll be surrounded by familiar suspects such as Colonel Mustard, Miss Scarlett, Professor Plum, and Mrs. White."

So far, there are no details on who will host the competition series or the audition process for the contestants who will participate in the series.

"Like so many families and friends over the years, we’ve gathered around the table trying to figure out who did it—making Clue a source of nostalgia that everyone shares," said Jeff Gaspin, Vice President of Unscripted Series content at Netflix.

"Thanks to the incredible vision of our partners at Hasbro Entertainment, IPC, and B17, we’re delivering a fresh, imaginative whodunit competition that will invite today’s audiences into that iconic world."

For now, fans should wait for more updates regarding the series in the coming months, especially those who might be interested in becoming part of the series.

Is the Clue Movie Reboot Still Happening?

For years, there have been attempts to do a new movie adaptation/modern reboot of Clue. However, none of them have been successful so far.

Ryan Reynolds and Jason Bateman were attached in previous iterations of the project at one point, but they eventually left with other directors such as James Bobin also attached (and left later on).

Last year, Sony snagged the film and TV rights for the Clue IP. However, there is still no update on what they will do with the adaptation, as they have not recruited a director or star to work on the project.
