Wizards of the Coast
It's a huge day for Magic: The Gathering spoilers today thanks to the revelation of new Ravnica Allegiance cards.
In addition to the new Ravnica Allegiance trailer released today (You can watch it above), the first batch of cards for the upcoming Magic: The Gathering set has been revealed, and they include an Azorius anti-Tron card, a decent Orzhov removal, a Simic enchantment that can win you the game differently, and a good amount of Rakdos cards that reveal the red-black guild's new mechanic, Spectacle.
Check out the cards below:
Light Up the Stage

Mortify

Growth Spiral

Rakdos Firewheeler

The Haunt of Hightower

Simic Ascendancy

Rix Maadi Reveler

Rafter Demon

Lavinia, Azorius Renegade

Gate Colossus

As you can see, Spectacle is an alternate cost that you can pay if an opponent lost life this turn and some cards with Spectacle has a bonus effect if you paid its Spectacle cost. That looks like a fitting mechanic for a guild known for their theatrical brutality.
Lavinia, Azorius Renegade will most likely see Modern, Legacy, and Vintage play. Modern Control decks will sideboard it against Tron.
I'm not that impressed with the Mythic card in this batch, Haunt of Hightower. Looks like it's a decent creature if you're playing mill but it's probably just a Commander staple or a Limited Bomb at the most.

Pre-release events for Ravnica Allegiance will take place on January 19, 2019; the set will officially be released on January 25.
