Fans were ecstatic when Square Enix announced that a number of their classic Final Fantasy games would be coming to the Nintendo Switch. This April, we'll be getting Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age and Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster. However, the latter collection has been considered controversial as of late, due to the fact that Square Enix won't be putting both games on the physical cartridge.
The official site for this collection confirms that the Switch version will only have Final Fantasy X on the cartridge, with X-2 added as a downloadable code bundled in the physical release. It's pretty disappointing since a downloadable version of the game means taking up more storage space on the Switch, which is already pretty limited unless you bought an SD card.
Square Enix isn't the first company to do this sadly. Capcom faced similar criticism for separating the Mega Man Legacy Collections, as well as the Mega Man X Legacy Collections. The latter in particular was annoying since each collection had the same extras, aside from the Boss Rush Mode.
Oddly enough, the Southeast Asian version of Final Fantasy X-X-2 HD Remaster on the Switch does put both games on the same cartridge. Why other regions won't be doing this is a mystery but fans may want to import and get this version since the Switch isn't region-locked.
