Final Fantasy VII Remake was great and we're all looking forward to the next installment but a lot of fans are probably wondering when we're going to get a new entry in the franchise. Final Fantasy XVI is the natural next installment in this series since we did have Final Fantasy XV a few years ago and we are genuinely interested in seeing what Square Enix has in mind for the future of its biggest franchise. Well, according to a reliable leaker, an announcement is coming sooner than we think.
How reliable? The leaker known as Navtra correctly predicted a number of games from the last PS5 show and beyond. Navtra said a new Ratchet and Clank game was coming to PS5 and it was announced. Navtra also said that Spider-Man would come to Marvel's Avengers as a DLC character exclusive to PS4/PS5, which happened.
The leaker's most recent post in ResetERA states that Final Fantasy XVI was supposed to be announced during that PS5 show in June. Apparently, the game will have some form of PS5 exclusivity, which isn't too surprising since Final Fantasy VII Remake is still a PS4 exclusive and will likely come to PC next year.
XVI is real. It was supposed to get announced in June's event. It's supposedly closer than most people would think. It has some kind of PS5 exclusivity (it was vague back then but it seems to be full timed exclusivity now). And I have no idea why they haven't announced it yet.
Will Final Fantasy XVI actually get revealed soon? If true, we would love it, especially if the game ends up being more fantasy-oriented, ala Final Fantasy IX. Only time will tell. In the meantime, Final Fantasy VII Remake is now available on PS4.
