EXO Kai’s Military Enlistment

According to reports, EXO Kai — who became the seventh member of the boy group to serve in the military — will undergo basic military training after he quietly enters the training center Thursday. He follows Xiumin, D.O., Suho, Chen, Baekhyun, and Chanyeol, who completed their services in the past years.

SM Entertainment (via The Korea Herald) released a statement revealing that the specific time and place of EXO Kai’s admission were not revealed due to the idol’s wishes.

“We respect Kai’s decision to go as quietly as possible, so we will not share the time and place of his military admission,” the company said. “There is no official event prepared for today, so we ask for the cooperation of Kai’s fans.”

His enlistment happened abruptly, with the Rover hitmaker apologizing to fans on Wednesday during an Instagram live session for the sudden announcement.

EXO Kai told the unfortunate news to his viewers, saying that he was preparing a lot of things for everyone before receiving the update. However, he promised to show them his surprises once he returns from the military.

EXO Kai Holds Free Fan Meeting Before Enlistment

Ahead of the confirmation of EXO Kai’s military service enlistment, SM Entertainment released a statement on May 4 announcing his free fan meeting at the Yes24 Live Hall in Seoul. It added that he was summoned to enlist earlier than expected “due to a recent change in regulations of the Military Manpower Administration.”

The event was held on May 9 at 7 p.m. KST. Due to the limited space, the label required fans to pre-register before attending the event. Meanwhile, EXO’s YouTube channel also broadcasts the show live.

During the show, he told everyone that he would shave his head clean ahead of his enlistment. The next day, he showed his new hairdo via Bubble.
