Ewan McGregor recently opened up about the disappointing realization he had after binge-watching all episodes of Andor.

The Rogue One prequel series is not just one of the most acclaimed Star Wars TV projects, but is also one of the most widely regarded shows this year. It is being praised for its gritty take on the rebellion and the social relevance to the current real-life events that are happening in our world. The second season was also marked as its final one since it ended with a set-up to Rogue One.

During his recent appearance at Fan Expo Chicago (via EW), McGregor revealed that he finally had the chance to binge-watch all episodes of Andor after hearing the wide acclaim for the series.

"I missed it when it came out. I always come to things late. I watched the first episode of it at home with my little boy, and then I realized what everyone was talking about," he shared.

Just like many fans, the Star Wars vet ended up liking the series overall after watching all 24 episodes.

He continued, "I watched all of the first seasons and all of the second season just on my own without [my son] because I just couldn't wait to get through it all. I thought it was great. I really liked it."

McGregor also realized that his character, Obi-Wan Kenobi, is in the same timeline as the series. However, it dawned on him that the series would not be getting a third season, and he wouldn't have an opportunity to be part of it.

"I got really excited. I was thinking, 'I think I'm in this timeline, I think I could be in season 3!' And I got super excited. And then I realized, 'Oh no... There can't be a season 3!'" he recalled.

McGregor jokingly petitioned for Lucasfilm to do a third season of Andor so that he can be involved in the series. He said, "Come on, Disney! What are we waiting for? Let's go! What are we doing?!"

Is Ewan McGregor Returning as Obi-Wan Kenobi in Future Star Wars Projects?

So far, there are no plans yet for McGregor to reprise the role of Obi-Wan Kenobi in the Star Wars franchise anytime soon.

Last year, McGregor expressed his hope that he would get an opportunity to reprise his iconic role again in a potential second season of Obi-Wan Kenobi.

"I loved, more than anything, getting to know Alec Guinness’ work because I was playing him as a young man. Even now with the series, that’s my personal challenge — if a take feels a bit like him, I’m happy," he said.

"I really do hope we get a chance to do another one. Between where we ended off in the series and when Alec Guinness comes on screen with Luke Skywalker, I think there’s another few stories to tell in there."
