Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen recently expressed their hope that Obi-Wan Kenobi season 2 will still happen someday.

The stars of the Star Wars prequel trilogy notably reprised their iconic roles in the six-episode Disney+ series that explored Obi-Wan Kenobi's journey between the events of Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope.

While it was only intended to be a limited series, some fans are still hoping that it will continue for another season and tell more stories of the Jedi Master in the years leading up to the original trilogy.

In a recent interview, McGregor expressed his interest to return in a potential season 2 of Obi-Wan Kenobi once again as he would like to continue playing the character in the years before A New Hope.

"I loved, more than anything, getting to know Alec Guinness’ work because I was playing him as a young man. Even now with the series, that’s my personal challenge — if a take feels a bit like him, I’m happy," he said.

"I really do hope we get a chance to do another one. Between where we ended off in the series and when Alec Guinness comes on screen with Luke Skywalker, I think there’s another few stories to tell in there."

Christensen echoed the sentiment as he is also open to reprising the role of Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader if Obi-Wan Kenobi gets renewed for season 2.

"If it means that I got to do more with Ewan, then that’s a no-brainer, but I really hope that he continues with the character. Just as a fan, it’s so exciting to get to watch him play Obi-Wan — he’s just so good at it," he said.

A lot of fans might also feel the same way since the characters are still beloved and, while the series had mixed reception, there is still interest to see them continue their journey in this era.

Lucasfilm has not confirmed any plans to do a second season of Obi-Wan Kenobi while the physical media release labeled it as "the complete series."

Perhaps we will hear some news soon about the potential future of the series or it will simply stay as a six-episode limited series.
