The Hall H panel from Marvel at San Diego Comic Con was filled with some megaton surprises, including new castings and recastings that came out of the blue.
While all eyes are on both Spider-Man: Brand New Day and the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday, the wheels are in motion for the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with major updates on Ghost Rider and Black Panther.

All the Marvel Reveals at SDCC Panel
The major reveals included:
- Ryan Gosling cast as Ghost Rider in the upcoming film directed by Shawn Levy.
- Black Panther III was confirmed with Ryan Coogler as director; actor David Jonsson will play T’Challa’s son.
Ryan Gosling Cast as Ghost Rider
Shawn Levy, who directed Deadpool and Wolverine for Marvel and worked with Gosling on the yet-unreleased Star Wars: Starfighter, will be directing the upcoming Ghost Rider film.
Gosling showed up at Hall H stating that playing Johnny Blaze is something he’s been trying to see come true for years. We also got a look at the film’s logo.
The film will be released in 2028.
Black Panther III Details
Black Panther III was confirmed. Ryan Coogler will be back in the director’s chair, but that was far from the biggest news to come out of this announcement: actor David Jonsson has been cast as T’Challa’s son.
With multiverse and time-traveling shenanigans already happening in the MCU, it’s not hard to imagine he’ll be implemented rather seamlessly, especially if the Russo Brothers make Doomsday/Secret Wars a soft reboot.
The film will be released on December 15, 2028.
Hayley Atwell Returns In Doomsday
Perhaps not that surprising, but it’s nice we got confirmation: Peggy Carter will appear in Avengers: Doomsday.
Actress Hayley Atwell made a quick appearance alongside key members of the Avengers: Doomsday cast. It might be a small role, but it’s nice to see she’ll at least see Captain America off in yet another adventure.
Reed Richards And Dr. Doom Will Have Beef In Doomsday
Fans were worried these versions of Mr. Fantastic and Doom weren’t each other’s biggest rivals. You can put that theory to bed, as footage shown at SDCC confirmed Reed and Victor will have prior history with one another.
Doom says to Reed at one point that they (presumably all the universes he’s trying to destroy) have been living stolen lives.
